The symposium: Options for an Independent Judiciary for Michigan, is presented in partnership with the American Board of Trial Associates (ABOTA), and to provide a platform to discuss judicial reform options in the state of Michigan.  The symposium will feature a keynote address by Sandra Day O'Connor.  In addition, experts from the judicial reform movement will lead discussions about how other states have initiated reform.

The symposium will explore ways to reform the way in which Michigan Supreme Court Justices are elected to energize people of influence to take action.  Leaders from both sides of the aisle will be invited to participate in this active discussion.  While the outcomes of the symposium have the potential to bring some much needed change to Michigan's judicial election process, this change would occur over time and therefore not be realized before 2020.  As a result, reform efforts will not impact the terms or tenures of any sitting justices.

We look forward to your attendance and participation in this event, which is by invite only.
