WSU's Department of Communication presents the 2010 Bernard L. Brock Memorial Lecture

Lying and Deception in Human Interaction
by Dr. Mark L. Knapp

Dr. Knapp, Jesse H. Jones Centennial Professor Emeritus of Communication and University of Texas Distinguished Teaching Professor Emeritus, is internationally known for his work in the field of nonverbal communication. He is the author of a number of books, including Nonverbal Communication in Human Interaction and Lying and Deception in Human Interaction, and is co-editor of the book The Interplay of Truth and Deception: New Agendas in Theory and Research. He is an International Communication Association Fellow and a National Communication Association Distinguished Scholar. Dr. Knapp has lectured throughout the U.S. to academic, professional and business groups, including IBM, U.S. Peace Corps, Pfizer Drug and the Texas Attorney General’s Office.

This annual lecture series is named in honor of Dr. Bernie Brock, professor of communication, gifted scholar and noted author. Dr. Brock was a supportive and committed mentor and colleague, and a dedicated and inspiring teacher who taught at Wayne State University for 35 years and directed more than 30 doctoral dissertations.

The lecture event is located in 226 Manoogian Hall and is free and open to the public.
