Faculty members from all five of the departments within the College of Fine, Performing and Communication Arts present an interdisciplinary collaborative dance, music and interactive multi-media piece at the DIA, 8pm, June 18.
Choreographer Jeff Rebudal (Maggie Allesee Dept. of Dance) collaborates with multi-media artists Kelly Gottesman (Dept. of Communication) and Cristobal Mendoza (James Pearson Duffy Dept. of Art and Art History), composer Jon Anderson (Maggie Allesee Department of Dance and Department of Music), scenic designer Pegi Marshall (Dept. of Theatre) and costume designer Mary Copenhagen (Dept. of Theatre) for a work-in-process titled Spero Meliora, a visually stunning performance exploring the civic life and urban revitalization of Detroit. Also performed is Beauty Mirrored (Echoe & Amenius), a duet based upon the Greek myth of the Narcissus that abstractly explores through movement the effects of one person’s action, or non-action, on others.
This project is part of the DIA's Friday Night Live! series and is presented in partnership with the DIA and Michigan Opera Theatre and with funding by WSU's Research Enhancement Program in the Arts.
