WSU's Dance Workshop company celebrates its 83rd year of providing high-quality professional dance training, education and performance opportunities. The Maggie Allesee Department of Theatre and Dance is pleased to present the 2012 Dance Workshop Showcase on Friday, February 10 and Saturday, February 11 at 7:30PM, and finishing Sunday, February 12 at 3PM in the Maggie Allesee Studio Theatre.
Featuring new choreography, the Dance Workshop Showcase presents 11 performances of outstanding student and guest artist works. Junior David Sherban presents his beautifully partnered duet “Desolate,” while junior Ellisa Marsack presents her dramatically intense ensemble work “After You.” Finally, the theatrical energy of “Onward,” choreographed by University of Michigan alumna Sadie Yarrington will bring a unique flare to the program. The Winter Showcase also features the popular Silent Auction and a pre-glow event, “An Evening of Celebration of Dance” on Friday, February 18. Proceeds will benefit Dance Workshop’s artistic endeavors and support the company’s touring, guest artists and production costs.
General admission for the Showcase concert is $12; $6 for students and seniors. Pre-sale tickets can be bought starting Monday, January 30 by contacting the dance office at (313) 577-4273.
