Attend the Detroit Hearing

The task force hearing on April 23 and 24, 2012, is open to the public. To attend, register with the Designated Federal Officer (DFO), Will Bronson, by emailing defendingchildhoodtaskforce@nccdcrc.org. If you require special accommodations, please describe them in your email. If you are a member of the media, note this in your email. Information submitted for registration is not confidential and may be made available to members and staff of the task force.

Space is limited; attendees will be registered in the order in which registration is received, subject to site capacity limits. You will be notified by email if your registration is confirmed.

The hearing will take place on April 24 in the Bernath Auditorium, David Adamany Undergraduate Library, Wayne State University, 5155 Gullen Mall, Detroit, MI 48202.

Tesitfy at the Detroit Hearing

The Defending Childhood Task Force is interested in hearing from community members and professionals working with children and families who have experienced violence, and those who have personally experienced children’s exposure to violence, both as victims and witnesses.

Public testimony will take place from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, April 23, 2012, in Bernath Auditorium, David Adamany Undergraduate Library, Wayne State University, 5155 Gullen Mall, Detroit, MI 48202. Photo identification is required for entry; please arrive by 4:30 p.m.

To request permission to provide brief oral (not to exceed five (5) minutes) before the task force in Detroit, please email the Designated Federal Officer (DFO), Will Bronson, by April 20 at defendingchildhoodtaskforce@nccdcrc.org. If you require special accommodations, please describe them in your email. If you are a member of the media, note this in your email.

Opportunities to provide oral testimony at the hearing are limited; registrations will be accepted on a time-available basis. You will be notified by email if your request to provide oral testimony is confirmed. Oral testimony will not be permitted without prior registration.

The Defending Childhood Task Force is interested in receiving written testimony from members of the public. Written testimony must be submitted by April 24, 2012. To view guidelines for submitting written testimony, visit http://www.justice.gov/defendingchildhood/tf-testimony.html.

Information submitted for registration to provide testimony is not confidential and may be made available to members and staff of the task force. Oral testimony will become public information, will not be held confidential, and will be video and audio taped. These recordings may be made publicly available online. Testimony, whether provided in oral or written form, may be made available to members and staff of the task force, and may be read aloud during a public hearing or published in a publicly available document.
