Julie Dash's signature films Diary of an African Nun (1977), Illusions (1982) and The Rosa Parks Story (2002) are classics. Her groundbreaking 1991 feature film Daughters of the Dust is listed in the National Film Registry. A retrospective of her work, a series of events spanning several dates, begins January 24 at the DIA's Detroit Film Theatre.
