Medical students targets Detroit Public School students underrepresented in the sciences and the medical field, specifically those of African-American, Latin American, and Native American decent.
Students aged 6-11 are invited to the School of Medicine for a daylong workshop program taught by medical students and faculty. ROTY strives to raise awareness about the medical profession and motivate student interest in the sciences. Opportunity to communicate medical careers to students aged 6-11. Teach kids aged 6-11 medical school subjects like Anatomy, Physiology etc.
Parents and children will each participate in a day of separate workshops. Parent workshops will focus on obesity, healthy lifestyles, and "Preparing Your Child for Medical School".
