Age-friendly communities offer infrastructure and supports that meet the needs of older adults and allow them to remain involved in community life. The literature is mostly descriptive, with limited empirical evidence linking age-friendly characteristics to elder outcomes--especially those with few resources. We present data from Detroit on how self-reported outcomes vary with age-friendly community characteristics.
