The Office of the Vice President for Research is pleased to host the Sustainability@Wayne Seminar, on Tuesday, October 2, 2012 at 2:30 p.m. at the Welcome Center. The presenter will be Dr.Manish Mehta, Executive Director of Industry Forums and sustainability at the National Center for Manufacturing Sciences, the nation’s largest cross-industry R&D consortium based in Ann Arbor, Michigan. His responsibilities include identifying new manufacturing industry needs, conducting emerging technology assessments and organizing collaborative research and entrepreneurship venture projects in areas such as lightweight materials, manufacturing, nanotechnology, sustainability and alternative energy.
Dr. Mehta’s presentation will define and describe transformative sustainability thinking, as well as review green technologies that present opportunities for both, individuals and industries to reach a balance by examining our impacts as a result of contemporary economic activity. Sustainability analysis requires life-cycled based multi-disciplinary thinking and has the highest career growth potential in the near future.
Dr. Mehta will demonstrate the myriad opportunities available for innovation, entrepreneurship and a successful career in sustainable manufacturing, and thereby make a positive difference to people, planet and profits.
A small reception will follow the presentation (3:30-4:00 p.m.) in the Welcome Center Lobby.
