The Office of the Vice President for Research is pleased to host the next Water@Wayne Seminar on Thursday, April 12 at 2:30p.m. 

The seminar will feature Kurt L. Heise, J.D., State Representative for Michigan's 20th House District and adjunct professor of civil and environmental engineering at Wayne State University. 

Heise will present "The Detroit Water & Sewerage Department (DWSD) - the Political and Environmental Impact of a Utility in Transition." He will discuss the political and environmental issues for the provision of water and sewerage systems in southeast Michigan, with an emphasis on the new role of the federal court, the new DWSD structure, proposed state legislation and the impact of Detroit's financial crisis on the continued viability of the DWSD system.

Water@Wayne seminars are free and open to the public. A short reception will follow the seminar.
