Detroit, MI 48201
International best-selling author Mitch Albom returns to the Fox Theatre stage in conversation with Judge Damon J. Keith, a Detroit icon and champion of the U.S. Civil Rights movement, to launch books for both and also raise funds to benefit S.A.Y. Detroit Charities and Wayne Law's Damon J. Keith Center for Civil Rights.
The event will showcase people of all backgrounds and races working together to improve the lives of Detroit’s most needy. Albom and Keith will discuss their storied careers, and several famous faces will be invited to share their unique Detroit experiences, as well. Special appearances by Carmen Harlan, Jim Leyland, Tim Meadows, Bernie Smilovitz and Matthew Stafford. Other celebrity guests to be announced.
All those who attend will receive a signed commemorative copy of Albom's novel, The First Phone Call from Heaven, which is set in Michigan and hits stores Nov. 12. Keith will preview his biography, Crusader for Justice, also due out in November, and will regale the crowd with more than seven decades of stories that involve everyone from A-list entertainers to U.S. presidents to revered leaders of the Civil Rights Movement.
