Franklin, Professor at the University of California, Riverside and Editor of the Journal of African American History  that made this issue possible.

The Inaugural Issue of the Journal is dedicated to the memory of Dr. Asa G. Hilliard, III, Fuller E. Calloway Professor of Urban Education at Georgia State University in Atlanta, Georgia. Dr. Hilliard transitioned from Cairo, Egypt in 2007.
