Following is the procedure for registering for the course Teaching the African American Child (BBE 6700) that will be taught by Janice E. Hale, Ph.D. at Wayne State University in the winter of 2013. The course will be offered on Mondays from 5:00 to 7:45. A limited number of students who reside outside of the Detroit metropolitan will be able to take the course by Skype. You should notify Dr. Hale as soon as possible if you want that option.
I am planning to offer the course will also be offered for 3 hours credit once in the spring semester and once in the summer semester of 2013. That course will be a blended online course. It will be designed for students internationally who cannot physically attend the courses on campus. Therefore, students in the Detroit metropolitan area and those at a distance will take the course online. There will be class meetings where everyone will all be present face-to-face online. You will also be able to see and hear Dr. Hale lecture and engage in online dialogue with her and other class members. You will be able to view videos and engage in discussions with te professor and your class members.
There was a significant response to the first email announcing these course offerings. This email comes to provide details to those who are interested so that you can move forward with registration. Please know that if enough registrations are secured for this course as a first step, ISAAC will offer more courses in the future on African American education, taught by leading scholars, that can be made available internationally. So, it is important that this first effort is supported.
