Science Under the Dome Lecture Series

The Physics of Lenses for Photography, Microscopy, and Astronomy.

Professor Christopher Kelly,
Dept of Physics and Astronomy,
Wayne State University

From advanced scientific pursuits to a cell phone camera, lenses are critical for focusing light and capturing images. I will discuss the basic principles by which lenses are able to bend light and create images of both very large and very small objects. Understanding lenses enables us to choose better binoculars, capture clearer photographs, and advance scientific understandings of the universe.

Admission is FREE.
