Washington, DC 20004
WSU School of Medicine Vice Dean of Education Dr. Maryjean Schenk, Congressman Daniel Benishek, M.D., Congressman Gary Peters, WSU Board of Governors Chair Debbie Dingell, and the Washington Alumni Host Committee, would like to invite the local alumni of the Wayne State University School of Medicine to the Washington DC Alumni Reception. This event will be held on Tuesday, April 9 from 6:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. in the atrium of the DLA Piper building on 500 Eighth Street, NW, Washington, DC.
Earlier that day, a group of our medical students will lobby Congress on graduate medical education funding and other important issues, including health care access. In written testimony submitted for a Senate subcommittee hearing on primary care shortages, the Association of American Medical Colleges described health care access challenges Americans will face because of a projected deficit of 45,000 primary care physicians by 2020. Our students are deeply invested in the future of medicine, and will attend the reception after their lobbying efforts.
The registration deadline is Friday, April 5.
We hope you will join us for this opportunity to connect with classmates, colleagues and medical students.
