The Office of the Vice President of Research is pleased to present the Sustainability@Wayne Seminar on Tuesday, October 16, 2012 at 2:30 p.m. at the Welcome Center. The presenter will be Rich Helling, Associate Director of Sustainability/Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) for the Dow Chemical Company in Midland, Michigan. Rich advises Dow businesses on the use of LCA and related tools to identify opportunities for innovation, differentiate products in the market place and create sustainable value for Dow.
The title of the presentation will be: "Driving Sustainable Innovation". The Dow Chemical Company has aligned its $1.8 billion innovation pipeline to help address the world's most challenging problems - such as clean water, renewable and efficient energy, agricultural productivity and aging infrastructure. Dow's transformation to a culture of sustainability is driven by a clear corporate strategy, global accountability to goals and a variety of tools that enable business performance. The Dow Chemical Sustainable Footprint tool and life cycle assessment (LCA) practices are instrumental in positioning sustainability as a target for innovation - and a source of business growth. These tools and their application will be described.
A small reception will follow the presentation in the Welcome Center Lobby (3:30-4:00 p.m.)
