The Black Medical Association will host its 24th Annual Reach Out to Youth event on Saturday, February 2, 2013, from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Registration begins at 8:00 a.m. The program will run from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

The Reach Out to Youth program targets students ages 7-11 who aspire towards careers in medicine and parents interested in maximizing their child's educational potential. Parents and children will each participate in a day of separate workshops. Parent workshops will focus on obesity, healthy lifestyles, and "Preparing Your Child for Medical School."

Students will participate in interactive small group sessions in Anatomy, Physiology, Nutrition and Clinical Medicine. These workshops are designed to motivate students and lead them to careers in the medical profession, as well as educate them on the science behind healthy living and eating. Students will examine human kidneys and brains under supervision of the medical school faculty and students. Students will also attend a lecture titled, "Where do Babies Come From?," explaining the genital organs and their functional role in procreation. To register for the event, please visit http://www.reachouttoyouth.org/parents.php.

NOTE: Due to LIMITED BUILDING CAPACITY and the overwhelming response to this program, admission is limited to 300 students and 200 parents. Forms will be accepted on a first-come basis. All participants MUST pre-register at http://www.reachouttoyouth.org/parents.php. There is ABSOLUTELY NO on-site registration.
