A panel discussion on Restorative Justice, an innovative way of solving disciplinary problems that is non-retributive and non-punitive. After last year's discussion on the School-to-Prison Pipeline, it is time to consider what schools and experts are doing now to help students solve their problems without resorting to criminalization, zero-tolerance, and removing students from the school environment. These policies disproportionately affect students of color, and students with disabilities. A panel of experts will help inform us of current problems and practices and guide us towards a deeper understanding of how systems of justice can change to better serve students in Detroit and beyond.
