Join Kino Club 313 and the Wayne State Comics Collective for a double feature film screening and discussion of My Friend Dahmer and We Need to Talk About Kevin.  John Backderf's 2012 graphic novel My Friend Dahmer explores his teenage friendship with Jeffrey Dahmer, who later became a serial killer. In 2017, the graphic memoir was adapted into a live-action film, directed by Marc Meyers and featuring actors Ross Lynch (Chilling Adventures of Sabrina), Alex Wolff (Hereditary), Dallas Roberts (The Walking Dead), and Anne Heche (Chicago P.D.).  We Need to Talk About Kevin, a 2003 novel written by Lionel Shriver, was adapted into a film of the same name by director Lynne Ramsay (You Were Never Really Here) in 2011. The film stars Tilda Swinton (Suspiria, Doctor Strange), John C. Reilly (Wreck-It Ralph), and Ezra Miller (Justice League, The Perks of Being a Wallflower) in a gripping story about a fictional school massacre and the family trauma that precedes and follows it. Tilda Swinton's powerhouse performance as Kevin's mother Eve earned her several award nominations, including the Golden Globe Award, Screen Actors Guild, and BAFTA for Best Actress in a leading role.  We will screen both of these films, then spend some time discussing them and the texts on which they are based. Light refreshments will be provided, and attendees are welcome to come for one or both screenings and/or the discussion. A full event schedule is available below:   5 PM: My Friend Dahmer 7:15 PM: We Need to Talk About Kevin  9:15 PM: Discussion & Snacks!  One Card required for entry! This event is open to Wayne State students, faculty, and staff ONLY!
