Title: Predictive Influence and the Monetization of Data


Digital interactions have become normative in society, and opportunities for companies to collect personal data have become more widespread. A preponderance of technology has given organizations the ability to analyze a breadth of data for predictive purposes, often targeting individual preferences as a way to influence behavior. Abuse of prediction and influence methods have led legislators around the globe to treat personal data collection as a threat, and enact laws to safeguard society. Companies have no choice but to respond to these movements with data handling and data valuation methods that enable rapid responses to changing legislation, while allowing them to package the data collected for sale to interested buyers.

We will discuss some of the methods used for data valuation, how organizations utilize applied mathematics in the data and analytics space, and implications for data management and cybersecurity in the growing area of data and analytics.
