Julisa will guide participants through the struggles faced by transgender women, especially transgender women of color (TWOC) in Detroit. She will apply real-world information from her lived experiences and those of the clients she serves to help attendees understand the resources TWOC need to survive and thrive. She will also help participants understand how to be an ally and ways that allyship may look different for TWOC as compared to other sectors of the LGBTQ community. After this workshop, participants will have greater empathy for TWOC, understand different methods of communication, and be able to be better allies to TWOC in Detroit.
