On Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2019, at 6:30 pm in the Community Arts auditorium on the Main Campus of Wayne State University, two WSU professors debated the question, "Does God Exist?"

An unedited version of the debate is available on the Wayne State University YouTube page at

(The event starts at about 38 minutes into the video.)

On the PRO side, Prof. Abert Spalding provided evidence for the existence of God. Dr. Spalding teaches in the Mike Ilitch School of Business and serves as faculty advisor and chapter director of Ratio Christi at Wayne State University.

On the CON side, Prof. Bruce Russell argued against the existence of God, especially in light of the excessive unnecessary suffering that too often occurs in our world. Dr. Russell teaches in the Philosophy Department at Wayne State, where he formerly served as department chair.
