Cultural sensitivity training is essential to understanding personal, inter-group, multi- and cross-cultural conflicts both in and outside the workplace. Increasing self-awareness of implicit biases that may impact perspective-taking, emotional regulation and communication is vital for professional success.

Session leader: Barbara Jones, M.A., community dispute resolution specialist and faculty instructor for the Center for Peace and Conflict Studies Program

After attending this GPPD, attendees will be able to:

  • Recognize and identify implicit bias.
  • Overcome barriers and attain skills in effective communication strategies that intersect with cultural sensitivity.
  • Mitigate conflicts and threats along the lines of gender, race, ethnicity, nationality, etc.
  • Promote cultural diversity that supports positive interpersonal and inter-group relationships.
