Just when you think you know classic fairy tales, Wayne State’s folk lore expert has a different story to tell.

The stories you grew up with may all start with “Once Upon a Time” but they don’t always end happily ever after, and there’s often disturbing themes in between – including child abuse, incest, homicide and cannibalism.

Pull up a stool, grab a drink and join us as Wayne State professor emeritus of German and noted folk lore scholar Donald Haase reveals the real stories of the Brothers Grimm.

Presented by the Wayne State Alumni Association, this free event is part of “Knowledge on Tap on the Road” a series of live — and lively — discussions around the country with some of Wayne State’s most interesting faculty.

RSVP to receive a complimentary drink that evening.
