As of 2015,  4.4 million people have sickle cell disease, while an additional 43 million have the sickle cell trait.  This seminar will discuss the history of sickle cell disease, changes in treatment, current medical breakthroughs and the Sickle Cell Disease Association of America (SCDAA).
