Title: Fourth order equations in conformal geometry

Abstract:

In early 1980s, Paneitz discovered a fourth order operator with 
bi-Laplacian as leading term, behaving similarly under conformal 
transformation of metrics as the conformal Laplacian operator. This operator and
its associated Q curvature was successfully used by Chang-Gursky-Yang in 
dimension four during 1990s. We will discuss progress in other dimensions 
made through the past several years.
