Join us as we celebrate the accomplishments of our students. 

The ceremony takes place in Room 150 General Lectures. A reception will follow in the Italian Room, also in General Lectures. 

The event will also feature a presentation by C.L.A.S. Dean Emeritus and Professor of Mathematics, Wayne Raskind.  

Title: Factoring large numbers: not just an academic exercise

Abstract:

Many cryptographic systems rely, one way or another, on the fact that it is "hard" to factor very large numbers.  We will review briefly how these work, explain their importance in e-commerce and other areas, and how developments in computing can impact their security.
