In the winter semester of 2018, in partnership with University of Illinois Chicago (UIC) Survey Research Laboratory, the Office of Diversity and Inclusion conducted a campuswide survey to better understand the cultural environment at Wayne State University. The survey was designed to help us acknowledge our successes; identify our challenges; and take steps to continue fostering a safe, welcoming, and inclusive community.

With the guidance of our Diversity Campus Climate Study Committee and the UIC — who have undertaken the significant task of analyzing the data throughout the past year — we are happy to report that we are ready to share the preliminary study findings with the campus community.

I invite you to join us at a town hall at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 16, in the Student Center Building. The session will be in Hilberry A, B, C. During this hour and a half-long interactive discussion, members of the climate study committee will share overarching themes from the findings and anticipated areas of future exploration. We hope you can join us for this important discussion.

Individuals interested in watching the live stream of the event can tune into wayne.edu/live starting at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 16. In the meantime, please stay up to date on the study by visiting its website.

Thank you again for your participation in this study and your ongoing commitment to building an inclusive community at Wayne State.
