TITLE: Spectral optimization for nonlocal operators

ABSTRACT: In this talk we will deal with optimization of shape functionals depending on the eigenvalues of the Dirichlet fractional laplacian (or fractional p-laplacian) under a volume constraint. Differently from the local case, existence of an optimal shape is not always guaranteed, as shown by an explicit example. Nevertheless, it is possible to identify the only two possible behaviours for a minimizing sequence: compactness, or dichotomy. These results have been obtained in collaboration with Lorenzo Brasco (Ferrara, Italy) and Ariel Salort (Buenos Aires, Argentina).
