Title: Topological Data Analysis of Time-Series Data: Methods and Applications
Abstract: Topological data analysis is a field that leverages tools from algebraic topology to give insight about patterns found in data. This talk will give a brief introduction to topological data analysis and show its application to functional magnetic resonance imaging (FMRI), and in particular, new results from our ongoing collaboration with Dr. Vaibhav Diwadkar’s medical imaging lab in WSU’s School of Medicine. Additionally, we will introduce a known instability issue in persistent homology of time-series data and show newly developed methods aimed at solving it.
