How much time do you take to make financial decisions?

Where do you get your information from regarding financial matters as you progress through your training as a medical student (obtaining debt) to a resident (accumulating more debt) to an attending (managing debt)?

This session will explore these questions and:

  • The gender difference in salary and negotiating
  • Women as the breadwinners in relationships
  • With highlights from a female physician’s experience and backed by literature and instructional programs, this lecture hopes to engage you to take more time with your financial decisions.
  • This is an introductory lecture geared mostly to women but suitable for all.

 

Claire Pearson, MD MPH FACEP: Associate Professor of Emergency Medicine at WSU SOM

Claire Pearson has been an Associate Professor of Emergency Medicine at Wayne State University School of Medicine since 2012. She is also the Director of Clinical Research in the Emergency Department at Ascension St. John. She serves as a mentor for Wayne State’s American Medical Women’s Association group and as an advisory committee member for the Women in Medicine and Science group. She is sits on WSU’s Gender Equity Committee. She is currently practicing as an attending physician in the ER at St. John Hospital and Medical Center.
