Industry Innovation Center (I2C) Conceptual Design Reveal

Wayne State University (WSU) and TechTown are working to transform the Industry Innovation Center (I2C) building and site into a place where university, industry and community come together and collaborate. We recently completed a participatory design process facilitated by the Detroit Collaborative Design Center (DCDC), in partnership with Community Development Advocates of Detroit (CDAD) and Hamilton Anderson Associates, engaging more than 150 stakeholders in a series of design workshops and meetings. The process also included immediate improvements to the site including brightly painted sidewalks, new landscaping and outdoor furniture.

We will have a completed conceptual (re)design in September 2019, which we plan to share widely beginning with a design reveal on Thursday, September 26.

You’re invited! Here are the details:

4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 26
WSU Industry Innovation Center, 461 Burroughs, Detroit, MI 48202
There will be a brief program at 5:00p, conceptual design boards and a feedback mechanism, plus snacks, drinks, lawn games and more!

Invited Guests: Are you interested in learning more about how WSU and TechTown are partnering around and investing in innovation and entrepreneurship—including WSU’s Center for Advanced Mobility and Innovation Studio powered by TechTown? Join us! WSU students, faculty and staff, TechTown-affiliated entrepreneurs, industry partners, neighbors, and friends are all invited and encouraged to attend.

Getting There: I2C is less than a mile from the Student Center. The Main Campus Shuttle (free for students, faculty and staff!) drops off on Cass outside I-Bio. There is a MoGo station on Second outside One Ford Place. The area is served by DDOT routes 16 (Dexter), 4 (Woodward) and 42 (Mid-City Loop), as well as the QLINE streetcar, which runs on Woodward. For those driving, there permitted parking in WSU Parking Lot 14, as well as a large free parking lot on Amsterdam in between Woodward and Cass.
