The rules and regulations related to cannabinoids, medical marijuana, naxolone and other pain products are in flux, as are practice needs and opportunities in the area of pain management. The Wayne State University PharmD program has designed a presentation to keep pharmacists, student pharmacists and pharmacy technicians up to date on relevant clinical and legal information to improve patient care. The program has partnered with Robin Yafuso, PharmD, and the DMC to provide ACPE pain and live CE credit.

On Saturday, Oct. 19, from 4-5 p.m., “Clinical and Legal Aspects of Cannabis and Opiates” will be presented by Alan T. Rogalski, RPh, JD, an adjunct assistant professor in the WSU Applebaum Department of Pharmacy Practice and a health care attorney at Warner Norcross & Judd LLP. The event takes place in the lower level auditorium of the WSU Applebaum building at 259 Mack Ave., Detroit.

Learning objectives include:

  • Differentiate cannabinoids from marijuana and opiate products
  • Explain the efficacy and safety of cannabis in pain management
  • Identify patients for whom cannabinoids and naloxone therapy would be helpful for pain management
