Gun Violence Prevention

Does resolving gun violence require a public health or medical approach?  As healthcare providers, how should affected patients and families be counseled?  Who is at risk of firearm injury and who should be screened?

This session will explore these questions as well as:

  • Research needed to understand the root causes of gun violence, identify those at risk, and determine the most effective strategies for firearm injury prevention
  • How to engage firearm owners and individuals at risk, as well as why public engagement is critical to developing programs and policies

Hosted by the WSU School of Medicine Women in Medicine & Science Group, we welcome all members of our community.
