Title: Inverse Iteration for the Monge-Ampere Eigenvalue Problem
Abstract: The Monge-Ampere eigenvalue problem was solved in 1985 by P.-L. Lions, who showed that there exist a unique eigenvalue and eigenfunction (up to multiplicative constants). In this talk, I will discuss an iterative method of computing the Monge-Ampere eigenvalue and eigenfunction based on repeatedly inverting the Monge-Ampere operator. I will present recent joint work with Jun Kitagawa (MSU), in which we prove that the iteration converges uniformly to the unique solution of the Monge-Ampere eigenvalue problem.
