Join us for the

11th Annual El Nuevo Comienzo

Virtual Latina/o/x & Native Student Graduation Celebration

Thursday, May 7, 2020

El Nuevo Comienzo is open to all graduating WSU students at the undergraduate, graduate, and professional level. The purpose is to highlight achievements of Latina/o/x and Native graduates at WSU. We hope to provide a space for honoring the support and contributions of family, friends, mentors, and the community. Through the ceremony we hope to also motivate future Latina/o/x and Native Wayne State Warriors to reach their degrees.

This is a FREE event. A special sash and sweet grass will be given to all participants at some point after the event.

Time: 6 to 7 p.m.

Location: Online (link will be shared with graduates once they register)

PLEASE NOTE this is not an alternative graduation, but rather a celebration of success. We strongly encourage your participation in the University Commencement - please visit commencement.wayne.edu for more information.

ALL ARE WELCOME!

Hosted by the Center for Latino/a and Latin American Studies (CLLAS) in partnership with the Latinx Faculty and Staff Association, the Latinx Student Association, the NDN Learning Community “A community of learning for Native/Aboriginal & Allies," and the Office of Multicultural Student Engagement (OMSE).

Registration for Nuevo Comienzo is closed. If you are a graduate who still wishes to participate, please email tamaraserrano@wayne.edu with your name, access ID, cell phone, photo for slide, plans after graduation and a one-sentence note of acknowledgment to family or friends. Emails received by 5/7/20 at 9 a.m. will be included in the program.
