The Wayne State Community and beyond is invited to join the Department of Music for a special workshop entitled: The New Broad Way...Exploring the Contemporary Music Theatre Ensemble

The WSU Department of Music welcomes Motown the Musical’s Arielle Crosby; The Color Purple’s Angela Birchett; and Hamilton’s Jonathan Kirkland for a workshop on musical theatre vocal ensembles.

ABOUT THE ARTISTS:
Jonathan Kirkland is a proud Michigan native, actor, singer, public speaker and media personality. His credits range from opera to musical theater to TV and film. His professional works include “Abyssinian” (Nat’l Tour with Wynton Marsalis and Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra, Shades of Blue (NBC). and most recently “Hamilton”.
 
Arielle Crosby is a singer, actress and native Detroiter, Arielle Crosby, has performed on stages across the US and in countries around the world. Arielle made her national threatre tour debut in Motown the Musical as a featured ensemble member and Diana Ross understudy. Other credits include ‘Aida’, ‘Dreamgirls” and “In The Heights”.
 
Angela Birchett is a Detroit native and seasoned lead vocalist, has appeared in musical offerings that span the musical theatre, classical, jazz, gospel and pop worlds. Angela made her Broadway debut in the 2015 Tony Award winning revival of ”The Color Purple”. Most recently, she starred in Lifetime’s movie event “The Clark SIisters: First Ladies of Gospel” as Jacky Clark Chisholm.
