Picture a Scientist Virtual Screening
This event is in the past.

GEARS (Gender Equity Advances Retention in STEM) at Wayne State University invites the university community to tune in to a virtual screening of the groundbreaking film about women in science, Picture a Scientist, from Nov. 13-16.
PICTURE A SCIENTIST chronicles the groundswell of researchers who are writing a new chapter for women scientists. Biologist Nancy Hopkins, chemist Raychelle Burks, and geologist Jane Willenbring lead viewers on a journey deep into their own experiences in the sciences, ranging from brutal harassment to years of subtle slights. The scientists featured in the film provide new perspectives on how to make science itself more diverse, equitable, and open to all. Picture a Scientist is directed by Ian Cheney and Sharon Shattuck. Produced by Manette Pottle, Ian Cheney, and Sharon Shattuck.
