A Father's Role in Pregnancy and Early Parenting - Engaging Fathers as Advocates for the Needs of their Families

Date: January 14, 2021
Time: 12:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m.
Location: Zoom
Category: Workshop

When it comes to the health and wellbeing of their young children, fathers matter. The positive health effects associated with father involvement begin in pregnancy with improved prenatal, birth, and neonatal health outcomes and significantly lower per-infant healthcare costs.  In this way, fathers are central to the health of their families.  Unfortunately, there are often barriers that prevent fathers from being fully recognized for their important role in their families.  Our panel of fathers and fathering experts will describe and discuss ways in which we can decrease systemic bias that diminishes father involvement within healthcare and other settings and empower fathers to advocate for the needs of their families.
