Our April meeting will include special guests Laura Walesby of Michigan State University and Anne Herron, vice president of Competitive Intelligence (CI) consulting agency firm AIM.  

Laura Leavitt Walesby is currently the Head of the Gast Business Library at Michigan State University, where she leads her team in delivering a full suite of research and instructional services. During her tenure, she has pursued increased integration with the Broad College of Business, added new positions and coordinated renovations to the library space. Laura previously worked as a Business Librarian at the University of Iowa for two years and as a Federal Investigator at the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission for eight years. She graduated from the University of Illinois – Urbana-Champaign with an MLIS and received her undergraduate in Political Science from Northwestern University.  Laura is a long-standing and active member in both SLA, where she has served in multiple leadership positions, and the Academic Business Library Directors (ABLD) group.

 Anne Herron is vice president of AIM, a strategic intelligence and market research consultancy dedicated to serving clients for over 40 years. Over the past two decades, Anne has led a team of experienced market research analysts while serving over 100 companies, organizations and government agencies in delivering valuable solutions. With a BS in Chemistry, Anne seeks continuous learning opportunities in an effort to provide innovative best-in-class solutions. Anne serves as Chair of the Special Library Association (SLA)’s CI Division, Director for SLA’s Michigan Chapter, and enjoys serving her local community and students by volunteering as a guest lecturer at Northwood University and Michigan Technological University.
