Ms. Cheryl Labash, Cuba Solidarity Activist & a Co-chair of the National Network on Cuba, will speak about the relations between the U.S. and Cuba

RSVP and RECEIVE ZOOM LOGIN and PASSCODE, email: andrea.ritter@wayne.edu

Cheryl LaBash first traveled to Cuba for May Day in 1985 while serving on the Detroit Health Dept. AFSCME Executive Board. Detroit infant death made terrible headlines that year. Cuba's success in reducing infant and maternal deaths, plus commitment to quality free education for all made an impression of a lifetime.

Although she has tried to return to Cuba almost monthly in 2021, her most recent trip was December 2020 shortly after the reopening of the Havana airport from the full COVID-19 shut down begun March 2020. LaBash is one of five co-chairs of the National Network on Cuba -- the U.S. umbrella composed of 50 member organizations. She works to normalize relations between the U.S. and Cuba with the aim of ending the embargo/blockade and economic sanctions. For the Zoom link to this meeti
