If insights are the product of data science and data are the raw material, infrastructure is the machinery that makes it all possible.  Hardware, software and the oft overlooked networks allow for data persistence, movement and hyperscale computations required by complex machine learning and analyses. The framework provides insights and outcomes that are both strategically and operationally essential in today's enterprises.

Current data science and analytics challenges have long ago outgrown the traditional monolithic enterprise data warehousing approach to infrastructure.  The technology landscape has become a complex ecosystem with numerous alternatives, requiring today's professionals to balance cost, capability, complexity and capacity in a rapidly evolving environment.  Add a twist of cloud computing and a dash of open source, and you have a complex mix that must be effectively balanced to cost effectively support the evolution of businesses in our data- and insights-driven economy.
