Warrior Book Club (May-July): The Beauty in Breaking
Join us as we read the New York Times bestseller, The Beauty in Breaking by Michelle Harper beginning now through mid-July. The book club is open to all WSU alumni, friends and family and there is no fee to join. Just sign up, secure your own copy of the book in any format you prefer (print or digital) and start reading with us! The club will spend about two months on each book, so there’s plenty of time to read. We will meet along the way in a private online forum to discuss the book in sessions led by a club moderator.
About the book: The Beauty in Breaking is a “riveting, heartbreaking” (New York Times Book Review) memoir that explores how a life of service to others taught an emergency room physician how to heal herself. In her years as a doctor, Michele Harper came to realize that each of us is broken in one way or another. How we recognize those breaks, how we try to mend them, and where we go from there are all crucial parts of the healing process. In this poignant true story, Harper shows us how to let go of fear, how to tell the truth, and how to speak up for the disenfranchised.
