Social Work Curriculum and Instruction Day
This event is in the past.
RSVP is closed.
The Wayne State School of Social Work Anti-Racism Committee (ARC) will provide training for our fall 2021 Curriculum & Instruction Day on Monday, September 20, 20212 from 3:00 - 4:30 pm on classroom management of microaggressions as a beginning program to ARC’s work. We will start with a discussion of the rationale for such a conversation and then provide time for group discussions of how to apply some of the specific techniques presented. C&I Day Agenda (PDF)
As a part of the program, we are sending out four documents for you to read in advance of the program (see below). We understand the beginning of the school year rush, but hope you will take the time to read and digest the information to be able to more fully participate in the programming.
- Undoing Racism Through Social Work Report (NASW)
- Disarming Racial Microaggressions: Microintervention Strategies for Targets, White Allies, and Bystanders (Sue et.al.)
- White Supremacy Culture (Okun)
- White Supremacy Culture – Still Here (Okun)
The ARC looks forward to this event and continued conversations this year!
