Avigail Oren is a historian and writer. She earned her Ph.D. in History from Carnegie Mellon University in 2017, where she studied 20th century U.S. history, urban history, and the history of immigration and ethnicity. She is a co-founder of The Metropole, the blog of the Urban History Association, and as co-editor has overseen the publication of over 400 articles and essays. Avigail has a chapter published in the edited volume The Ghetto in Global History – “Is a Negro district, in the midst of our fairest cities, to become connotative of the ghetto…?”: Using Corpus Analysis to Trace the “Ghetto” in the Black Press, 1900-1930” – and contributed an essay to the collection, Bound in the Bond of Life: Pittsburgh Writers Reflect on the Tree of Life Tragedy.
