Abstract: G-protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) are the largest and most diverse group of membrane receptors in eukaryotes. Approximately 34% of FDA-approved drugs target 108 members of GPCRs. Around 50% of drugs currently on the market target GPCRs signaling pathways related to many diseases and disorders. GPCRs regulate fundamental physiological processes and are involved in numerous pathophysiological conditions. In the present presentation, Dr. Singh will share his research findings on the role of PAR1 (a G protein-coupled receptor) and PAR1-Gα12-Pyk2-Gab1-protein kinase C signaling on atherogenesis. He will also discuss the role of GPCR effectors such as p21-Activated kinases (Paks) on restenosis (neo-intimal hyperplasia) and atherosclerosis.
