Fait Chorus: Telling the History of Early French Detroit through Song with Professor Karen Marrero
This event is in the past.
This presentation will feature an exploration of a song composed of French and Indigenous lyrics originating in the early 19th century that has survived to the present day in the Greater Detroit Area. Music and song have been a prevalent and powerful medium of cultural transmission for the Great Lakes French peoples. The song continues to resonate and singing it creates new contexts for understanding the region's French community.
