"The glory of gardening: hands in the dirt, head in the sun, heart with nature. To nurture a garden is to feed not just the body, but the soul.” – Alfred Austin
The Wayne State School of Social Work is inviting our faculty, staff and students to take some time to relax and connect as we wrap-up the winter semester with an exploration of gardening. Attendees will hear from Master Gardener Carmen Albert on ways to bring life to their yards with innovative gardening ideas including the use of native plants, wet soil plants, composting, and more.
We encourage attendees to participate in a Plant Swap at the event. Simply bring a portion of a plant(s) from your yard (must include at least 3-5 shoots and a healthy supply of roots) and share with a fellow attendee at the event. Please be sure to label your plant and bring a picture of your plant in bloom to share as well.
Attendees will take home an herb pot they plant themselves at the event. Plants, pots and soil will be provided. Please bring gardening gloves and small hand trowel/shovel.
Don't forget to bring your green thumb!
Space is limited and RSVP's are required.
