During a time when most foreign travel became impossible, instructors from across the university were able to include global perspectives into their classes through COIL projects. COIL stands for Collaborative Online International Learning and usually centers around a common project of a class at Wayne State and a class abroad. These projects vary in length and in their composition. The roundtable participants will share the set-up of their specific projects, speak about lessons learned, and how students benefited from these experiences. The success of these projects has led to an increasing number of faculty who continue to collaborate with a partner abroad in this way. The goal of the roundtable is to show a variety of these projects to inspire ideas for instructors in all disciplines to include global learning in their own classes. This collaborative session between the Office for Teaching and Learning and the Office of International Programs will be led by Nicole Coleman, associate professor in classical and modern languages, literatures and cultures.
