This talk will review the different roles of a primary care provider (PCP) vs. a specialist in the care of adults with CP. The aim is to understand why it is important to have a PCP and educate participants on issues that may need earlier screening or intervention than someone without CP. Participants will also learn about the role of different specialists who care for adults with CP, particularly Physiatry.
Presented by Heidi Haapala, MD. Dr. Haapala is a Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, MI. Her clinical and research interests focus on the care of adults with cerebral palsy, promoting lifelong health and function and improving the assessment and management of pain in cerebral palsy
